Terror from the sky

Terror struck at the heart of United States security Tuesday when an aircraft crashed into the Pentagon and two planes crashed into the World Trade Center in Manhattan, collapsing both of the massive towers of the landmark building and filling New York's financial district with smoke.

The White House, the Capitol, State Department and other federal buildings were evacuated. The Federal Aviation Administration shut down airports around the country as reports of more possible attacks filtered in. The nation entered a state of shock. MORE »
